Observing the collapse of the school-level teaching of French, a mother decided to develop a grammar-learning method based on old textbooks dating from the early 20th century. Concerned above all with effectiveness, she nevertheless added what digital tools can bring: interactivity and 3D animation!

The client: Grammaire Classique
Young French people’s spelling level is collapsing, according to studies by the Ministry of Education’s statistics service. Faced with this alarming finding, a mother decided to take her child’s grammar learning into her own hands, using old textbooks from the early 20th century — a time when academic excellence was an absolute value for the French republican school.
The genesis of the project
She quickly understood, however, that simply helping her own child would not be enough. The national education system seems unwilling to undertake a deep rethink of its pedagogy and textbooks, which risks having long-term consequences for the whole country. If grammar is no longer at the centre of learning, young people are cut off from the texts of the great authors their teachers propose — leading to a loss of French literary culture and, by extension, a lack of vocabulary. Mastery of the language is also essential for structured thinking, analysing a text and building rigorous arguments. That is why grammar is a fundamental basis for learning.
Developing the method
The mother thus decided to share the content of the old textbooks to help other children. But she soon realised these books needed some serious dusting off to be useful to a modern audience, and decided to use multimedia tools to make the subject both more accessible and more fun. She systematically updated obsolete terms such as “bourrelier” (harness-maker) or “charrette” (cart), replacing them with more current words such as “tyre fitter” or “car”.
She then imagined a friendly schoolmistress who would take the pupil by the hand online. All this gave birth to the Grammaire Classique method, a Web-based course teaching French grammar to children. The platform makes it possible to learn grammar in an interactive, playful way through multimedia tools, while remaining strictly faithful to the foundations of classical grammar.
For now, only a first part of the course is available on the Grammaire Classique website, financed from the method creator’s own funds. She is currently looking for business angels to produce the following chapters and thus help as many children as possible.
In short: grammar is a fundamental basis for learning. Rigorous mastery of one’s own language is necessary for structured thinking and effective argument. The Grammaire Classique online platform offers a modern, playful solution for learning grammar while remaining true to the foundations of classical grammar.
3TOON’s mission
To make the course more appealing to children and more convincing to potential investors, this mother chose to entrust the production of the first educational animations to a professional animation studio. 3TOON played an essential role in creating an engaging visual environment that captures young learners’ attention while teaching them the rudiments of French grammar. The animated characters and playful graphics bring the subject to life and let children learn in an interactive, fun way, boosting their engagement with the course.
Moreover, the professional quality of the animations also contributes to the course’s credibility with investors. Turning to an animation studio makes it possible to present a superior finished product, proving the founder’s commitment and determination to provide quality education for children.
Motion design at the service of training
3TOON used motion design to help children grasp every notion required to master the basics of grammar. Motion design is a graphic-design technique that uses animation to communicate a message clearly and attractively. The concepts to be assimilated were illustrated as effectively as possible thanks to this technique.
The animation studio combined voice-over, animated text and animation to present the most complex, hardest-to-remember ideas in a lively way conducive to memorisation. This combination made the concepts more accessible and easier to understand for learners.
