On two occasions, 3TOON has found itself on the air of the French TV channel M6. Once for our web series with Yannick Noah, and also about the SpongeBob SquarePants series…
The most recent one came at the initiative of journalist Shana de Lacroix. She was preparing a documentary about Yannick Noah, to be broadcast in September 2010, and was looking for information about the acting career of France’s favorite celebrity. She then discovered that he had played his very first role in an animated series: “1 minute de pause“, produced by 3TOON for its client JM Bruneau.
She therefore included in her 52-minute documentary an excerpt from the series, as well as a passage from the making-of showing Yannick during his recording session. The result is one of the most complete programs ever made about the athlete, singer and actor that is Yannick Noah, setting aside the celebrity gossip to focus on his career and achievements.
Below, a 1’18” digest – in French – captured during the rerun on W9 (a sister channel of M6).
When M6 went looking for a French SpongeBob specialist…
whom did it find? That’s right: one of the founders of 3TOON, a great fan of the series who had written a long article about it on his personal website. In May 2005, journalist Romain Miroux was conducting an in-depth investigation into the SpongeBob SquarePants animated series (yes indeed, it does touch on politics and discrimination according to American Republicans) for the show “Classé confidentiel”.
After a search on the Web, he contacted Ali Bali to try to understand and explain how a series designed for an audience of children ended up being faithfully followed by a good third of adults in the measured audience!
Conducted with pace and mischief, the interview turned out to be a genuinely fun moment.
