In 2001, the Internet was truly beginning to reach the mainstream, and at the same time, broadband access solutions were becoming a concrete reality. Christophe Féry and Patrick Falfus, of the Ptolémée agency, decided it was time to dedicate a trade show to the professional solutions that would allow the Web to grow.
The film announcing the Narrowcast show
The Ptolémée agency and the launch of the show
The founders of the Ptolémée agency renewed the Narrowcast operation, but this time on a grand scale, in a large hall of the Parc des Expositions at Porte de Versailles, in Paris.
They entrusted 3TOON with producing a cartoon to announce the event to all their prospects, in the form of an e-mail marketing campaign.
The result: a short cartoon paying tribute to the title sequence of the TV series “The Persuaders!” (“Amicalement vôtre” in French). It stages the parallel destinies of television and computing, and illustrates the word on everyone’s lips at the time — “convergence”!
With hindsight, we know there were many visionaries back then, though their predictions took time to come true… Many years later, it is now obvious they were right, with the omnipresence of Web-connected devices (iPhone, Android and the like), as well as the connected TVs lining supermarket shelves!
A cartoon produced in a bilingual version: French and English.
