At the end of December 1999, RFI announced the launch of the first FIFI (International Internet Film Festival). The organizers decided to use the interactive movie produced by 3TOON to support their communication.
To illustrate the changes taking place on the Internet, the organizers of the first festival devoted to films designed specifically for the Internet chose the interactive movie Hypnosis (My Interactive TV) as their example. The film, produced and directed by the founders of 3TOON, was indeed selected “out of competition” in this first edition.
RFI opened the program with an audio excerpt from the film, followed by a description of the interactive movie, so that listeners could grasp what made its storytelling so unprecedented. The journalists then handed the microphone over to the organizers, who explained why they felt that a new kind of cinema called for a new kind of festival…
