European Union and Cobo4you

In September 2021, the European Union held the new edition of its Enterprise Europe Union Awards. A series of several films, shot all across Europe, was launched to showcase the companies selected to benefit from the institution’s support.

European Union

The European Union (EU) is the political and economic union of twenty-seven European states which delegate or transfer by treaty the exercise of certain competences to community institutions. It has a population of more than 446 million. It is the world’s third-largest economic power by GDP, behind the United States and China.

3TOON’s mission

To shoot this series of videos across the European continent, during the troubled period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the supervision of the shoots was entrusted to Marc Vanvinkenroije of the Jumpcut company. He in turn entrusted 3TOON (under its Cap Vidéo brand) with the shooting of the episode showcasing the winning French company, based in Vesoul.

To ensure a consistent style across a series shot by independent crews throughout the countries of the Union, an extremely rigorous style guide and storyboard had to be followed. Trustworthy partners were needed for these shoots, which took place entirely autonomously once in the field…

The film’s participants notably had to be coached to speak in English — not always an easy exercise, especially in front of the camera lens.

Introducing COBO4YOU

Through its president, Benoit Lyautey, the film presents COBO4YOU, a young engineering company based in Haute-Saône. He explains how the European Union helped him develop a partnership for his speciality, cobots — “collaborative robots”. They are designed to improve the ergonomics of workstations, in particular to prevent occupational illnesses.

There follows the demonstration of an innovative exoskeleton developed by COMAU, a leading company in industrial automation in Italy, sold to a local supermarket to ease the work of its warehouse staff.

The Burgundy Chamber of Commerce also appears, as the official representative of the Enterprise Europe Network co-funded by the European Commission. Its representative explains how the Network was able to set up the partnership between the French (Cobo4you) and Italian (Comau) entities in an environment of trust, making the cooperation highly meaningful.
